We were mesmerized. The sheer size, expressions, and familiarity created a tension we could not let go. We realized that Kate Clark was right there in the gallery next to us. We learned that she used animals that had been killed for one reason or another. We are accustomed to recognizing emotions in animals, but seeing oneself mirrored in an animal’s body reminds us of the deep connection we share with the animal kingdom.
