Emanuel Petrakakis (age 58) is a Mozambican Businessman in the area of Tourism owned the oldest restaurant in Maputo (Lourenco Marques) as it was called in the colonial days. The restaurant was sold in 2012 and Emanuel has since been involved with real estate and the phased construction of a tourist lodge in Maquaneta, north of Maputo.
He has, in his early days, worked as a financial and administrative consultant for UNDP (United Nations Development Programme),Red Cross, UNESCO (United Nation Education and Science Organisation and DANIDA the Danish Development Agency.
In his private life he has a passion for Astronomy and the proliferation of human kind into the Cosmos, having written some papers on it. He is one of the founders of Mars Society (in 1998) and has attended various conferences on Astronomy including the International Space University in Strausburg.
